Positive Guidance

Our goal is to help children develop respect, self-control, confidence, and sensitivity toward others. Discipline is a teaching process appropriate to each child's age, development, temperament, and family and cultural background.

Teachers maintain a positive, structured environment with appropriate activities, adequate space, and clearly defined activity areas. Guidance strategies may include gaining the child's attention and staying nearby, verbal reminders, acknowledging feelings before setting limits, redirection or diversion, offering age-appropriate choices, and natural and logical consequences.

Children are never subjected to corporal punishment or harsh, humiliating, frightening, or abusive discipline.

Family Communication and Support

Parents should inform the Director of changes at home that may affect behavior. The Director will communicate about ongoing challenges and work collaboratively with families. Reasonable efforts will be made to resolve concerns respectfully and appropriately.

Program Suitability

In rare circumstances, when a child's needs cannot be met safely or appropriately in group care, the Academy may request alternative childcare arrangements in accordance with licensing standards and after reasonable efforts to resolve concerns.
